(More customer reviews)When my fiance and I were in the "gee, what kind of rings do we like" mode, I had my heart set on either a three-stone ring or something with an ornate filigree pattern - I have only owned costume jewelry in the past, and I'm not much of a ring person - but I loved the idea of a classic look. I stumbled upon the Apples of Gold website and really loved the look of this ring, and sent it to my fiance (along with a few others) as examples of styles of rings that I liked. Lo and behold, when he popped the question on my birthday, there was my ring!
The craftsmanship is stunning, and not readily apparent from the pictures. The leaf patterns on the top, side, and bottom are gorgeous - only a tiny section in the back of the ring is not engraved, to allow for sizing. The three diamonds are amazingly sparkly - I have had SO many compliments - and the millgrain beadwork just makes for a great finishing touch.
One note - if you are looking for a band to match, you may have some trouble as the setting for the center diamond is not level with the rest of the ring setting, which prevents bands from sitting flush against this piece. I have had a tough time trying to find a good match - but it turns out that they are in post-production mode of a matching wedding band, so all the brides out there should keep a look out for it.
As far as customer service is concerned, I highly recommend them. When I received my ring, I needed to have it resized but also found that one of the side diamonds had a flaw in it. When I shipped the ring to them, they immediately called and apologized, and replaced the flawed diamond and resized my ring free of charge (a $125 savings).
I went with the platinum band from their website, as I am a total klutz and knock my ring into EVERYTHING - my cast iron fireplace, the shower, other people, you name it - but there's nary a scratch on the ring... looks brand new. I can't recommend it enough and can't wait until they finally put up the matching wedding band.
