(More customer reviews)I wanted tungsten carbide for durability and scratch resistance due to my rough work, a silvery color for style, but I wanted a ring of gold for tradition. Tungsten carbide is also the best because, unlike titanium or steel, it is fairly easily removable in an emergency.
I shopped literally thousands of rings online and at stores. Most rings with a gold strip give off a very weak gold color since it's just a cheapy thin plating job, but this is inlaid gold set within a small dip and leveled off to the tungsten, and the gold color is set off much more strongly even than in the picture of the item.
This was also just about the only ring I found that featured a matte finish for the tungsten near the gold . . . that really sets it off, too. I had initially considered a terraced look for the surrounding tungsten, but I'm glad I changed my mind at the last minute . . . this ring is perfect, and doesn't hang on or scrape pockets or anything else as a terraced ring might.
I've been wearing mine for about two months, and have *not* been gentle to it. Like, at all. While the gold has a few dings, nicks, and scuffs, the depth of the inlay means I haven't made 'holes' where tungsten shines through, and hopefully I never will. And the tungsten? Fogeddaboudit, it's as perfect as the day I received it. And the rounded interior and edge make this ring perfectly comfortable, with no pinching or rough presses against flesh anywhere.
And, of course, this ring is at a good price. I'm cheap when it comes to myself so I was pondering going for less, but think about it . . . if you go to a brick and mortar store and get one of those cheap-plated ugly ones, you'll pay three or more times as much, without any more quality than you'll find here. This ring will last a lifetime, and while everyone else's gold rings will look like they've had a belt sander taken to them this one will still look shiny and new.
